Smart homes tend to grow the same way closets do. One device at a time until things technically work but feel a little messy.

So let’s talk about 2026...

What is one thing you want to improve about your smart home next year. Not add. Improve.

Maybe fewer notifications that do not matter. Maybe automations that behave the same way every day. Maybe pulling back instead of stacking more logic on top of old logic.

Sometimes the smartest upgrade is making things calmer.

What are you planning to fix or simplify once the new year hits.

I want my automations to behave the same way every day. Fewer edge cases, fewer surprises. If it works quietly in the background, that’s a win for me.

I have a home theater that I run from a Logitech Harmony universal remote. I recently upgraded the system to atmos (5.1.4), but some of the newer settings are quirky. I also replaced my laser disc player and there’s several settings I need to tweak.

It’s usable and enjoyable, but it could be better.
