Which makes more sense in the long run between smart switches and smart bulbs

I have done both in different parts of the house and I've landed on smart switches for most situations. The reason is smart bulbs require the switch to stay on always which breaks the physical switch behavior and causes endless confusion for anyone in the house who isn't you. Smart switches work like normal switches, can dim and control normal bulbs, and don't require any behavior change from your family. Smart bulbs win when you need color, when you're renting and can't change wiring, or when you want the lowest upfront cost per light. For primary living spaces where multiple people control lights, I will suggest smart switches, full stop.
