Vont smart bulbs unresponsive

I can't seem to get my Vont smart bulbs to reliably integrate with my Home Assistant setup, and even the Alexa connection has been flaky lately, giving me "device unresponsive" errors when I know the bulb is on and working through the Vont app. I've had my smart bulbs for a couple years now while the error has been on and off for over two weeks. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the Vont cloud or if it's time to have them replaced, which I think is a little too soon. Thoughts?

I've had similar issues with Vont bulbs= usually it's a cloud or API glitch. Try re-linking the integration or using a local control workaround in Home Assistant

Okay, it looks like you might be having some trouble with your cloud sync. Have you tried restarting your router? It might also help to try re-linking Vont in Alexa and checking to see if there are any updates available. If it's still acting up, you may use Home Assistant for more stable local control, such as MQTT or ESPHome.

Oh, you're not the first one I've heard who had connection issues with their Vont smart devices. If I'm not mistaken, Vont has already gone out of business so I guess there's no longer support for Google or Alexa. The fact that the Vont app still works but other integrations are failing points directly to a cloud-based problem on their end, as Home Assistant and Alexa rely on that cloud connection to communicate with the bulbs. It's likely not a problem with the bulbs themselves, but rather the service they depend on. You might be better off considering a more reliable brand that offers a local-first connection option to avoid these kinds of problems in the future!
