My original Google Nest Doorbell can't be removed. First experience

I'm just getting started. My first home automation experience was a Google Nest Doorbell. The original one was to be replaced with a new one as its intenrnal battery died (It was wired so I didn't even know there was one. It's not replaceable so that was the end of that. Thanks Nest! A new one was installed and the old Nest doorbell can't be removed. Second level Google support says they will look into it.

Suggestions?
