Google Home/Kasa issues

I'm having trouble lately with Google Home and how it works with Kasa. (I have Kasa outlets and some LED strips.).

While, in the Kasa app, everything seems fine. I can go to the app and turn things on and off. But, some of the items show "offline" in the Google Home. Not all, just randomly some.

I've tried restarting each item, removing the Kasa app and reinstalling, restarting my phone, etc.

Here's the confusing part: it has these issues with my Google Pixel phone and my Google Pixel tablet. When it's offline, it's offline on both. But my spouse, who has the exact same phone (Pixel 8) does not have this happening.

We both use th same login and password for Kasa. So I thought it should show up exactly the same on all devices.

(I think this is a Google problem, not a Kasa problem.)

Sidenote: we've had some gremlins lately with other things connected to Google Home. For example, our Google Nest Thermostats and Cameras will sometimes also show "offline" on both our devices and the only way to fix it is to remove the thermostat/camera from Google and reinstall it like it's new.

I'm so confused 🤔. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I use Kasa devices and I have not had any problem using them with Alexa. Just make sure that Alexa and Kasa are linked. I find that the minute I activate a new Kasa device, it appears in Alexa.

Google's ecosystem is a glitchy mess with inconsistent device syncing. It's less about hardware or accounts, more about Google's half-baked integration and app instability

It's definitely a Google problem and you're not alone in this. A friend of mine had a setup with Kasa and he was in the same boat as you. What worked for him was turning off the smart network feature, or whatever it's called where it has one network and decides if it should go on the 2.4 or 5 GHz. Set it up with two networks for both frequencies and then unlink and link Kapa in your Google home settings.
