Although I don't have two cats in the yard. Credit CSNY
My smart home is Alexa based with both the phone app as well as an echo show device. I am in the process of swapping out all the wall switches, dimmers and fan controllers with Kasa and Treatlife devices.
I have numerous Kasa smart plugs that I use for various things. At Christmas I set up all my lights to be controlled by these smart plugs. I also have my computer printer on a smart plug. This enables me to turn it on and off by my voice. This is handy as my printer is in my study and I can turn it on from anywhere in my house and print from my laptop.
I have a weather proof smart plugs outside that controls the deck and patio lighting.
I have Cafe appliances in the kitchen, all of them are 'Smart' or at least connected with apps on my phone.
I have a Ring doorbell and several Ring outdoor security cameras.
My thermostat is an Ecobee smart thermostat connected to Alexa as well as it's own app on my phone.
The only thing I can't do is control one set of manual switches that are for the lighting on the stairs and hallway. These are a 4 way switch arrangement and no one makes a smart 4 way switch.
My next step is to get entertainment units (TV and receivers) that are Alexa compatible, and a smart irrigation controller.
