Samsung Family Hub ice maker no water after filter change

Hey all, our 3-year-old Samsung Family Hub (RF28R7351SR) in-door ice maker suddenly quit after I replaced the water filter.

The water dispenser works fine but the ice maker is bone dry. I checked the fill tube, and it's clear, no ice blockage. I ran the reset button on the ice maker, and it cycles but no water fills the tray.

Since the main dispenser works, I suspect the issue is with the ice maker's dedicated water solenoid or maybe a weird air lock from the filter change. Has anyone seen this exact issue after swapping the filter? Which should I check and is there a trick to bleed the line? Thanks in advance!

That filter swap tricked it, man. The water line to the ice tray can trap a bubble that doesn’t clear unless you run the dispenser long enough. Try holding it for 2 minutes solid. If no luck, check voltage at the ice maker solenoid like if you get power but no click or water, the valve’s toast.

that’s a common one. The filter change can let a pocket of air or fine debris block the smaller ice feed line. Try running a water fill test from the fridge’s service mode if your model supports it... it’ll tell you if the valve’s actually energizing.

I’m not sure if it’s the same, but I had to reseat my filter twice because it wasn’t fully locking in. The dispenser still worked, but the ice line didn’t get enough pressure. Maybe take it out and reinsert it slowly till you hear it click, that fixed mine after I thought something electrical died.

That’s a frustrating one, especially right after a filter swap. Air pockets in the ice-maker line show up more often than people expect. Some users clear it by holding the dispenser for a long continuous run just to push the air out.

try to use a multimeter to check continuity on the water inlet valve's solenoid, or check for blockages by disconnecting the water line at the valve (after shutting off water supply to the fridge)
