My parents' kitchen almost got damaged because of a water leak so my husband and I decided to get a smart water valve for them and also for our house.

So aside from leak detection and automatic shut-off, we want the following features:
- monitors flow rate and temperature
- still works even without power or wifi
- sends remote alerts to our phones

I've only done initial research and I understand that there's no one brand / model that can complete our checklist. I'd like to get your personal recommendations, especially if you've had experience using any smart water valve!

That's a good move, other than Flo by Moen, you can use Phyn Plus, but do you need it to work with existing plumbing, or are y'all open to pro install?

I'm curious if those smart water valves can really handle fluctuating water pressure or extreme weather conditions.

Smart move protecting the smart water valve because even the smallest leaks could affect that so badly and so quickly too. I guess no single model really hits every point but I do recommend Phyn Plus highly which is accurate with the flow/temp and no sensors are needed in every room. It's still power / Wi-Fi reliant.

If you're searching for a great option, I reccommend the Guardian Valve Controller. It's battery-operated, easy to install, and it can turn off the water if it detects a leak.Another solid pick is the Aqara Smart Valve Controller T1, which has app control and a battery backup. On the other hand, if you don't mind being plugged in, Flo by Moen is excelent for water monitoring and can also shut off the supply. For more advanced leak detection, you might want to check out StreamLabs Control, although it comes at a higher price. While none of these options covers everythin, they're definitely among the best

Totally agree, those are great choices. Guardian and Aqara work well if you want to avoid wires, and Flo's monitoring is something to think about if plugging it in isn't a problem.
