Moved into a condo in Tampa last year and installed a DC fan that only takes RF commands. I've been using a remote and a Bond bridge with Home Assistant but want to switch to a wall-mounted control. The wiring includes neutral so I'm looking for something that can send RF or trigger HA automations. Is there a switch that works without needing to flash firmware?

Have you heard of Lutron Caseta or GE/Jasco Z Wave switches, they can trigger automations through home assistant without any flashing, and some can send RF commands through a hub

Well, since your fan uses RF, a simple power switch won't give you the ability to change speeds or reverse direction. You have to look for a smart switch that can send RF commands or communicate with your Bond bridge. Some companies make switches specifically for this purpose that can be wired for power but also have buttons that can be programmed to send the RF signal to the fan. Because this way you don't need to mess with any firmware and you get a physical switch on the wall that controls the fan's full functionality.

Thanks for the suggestions. Good news! I checked and I do have a neutral wire in the box, so I'm going to start with a Z-Wave multi-button switch and program it to trigger my fan automations in Home Assistant.

If I use the fan's original RF remote, does the Bond bridge integration report that state change back to Home Assistant reliably? I'm trying to ensure the status is always correct in HA, no matter how the fan is controlled.
