Sensors will tell you about how much energy you are using and when you are using it. Smart plugs will allow you to control it.

Whether it makes any difference to your monthly bills depends on how well you are managing your utilities use now. Chances are that you can improve on your energy usage, but the sensors will tell you more and allow you to view trends.

monthly electricity bills get influenced by a LOT. so it isn't a direct result of automation.
