Beginning to wonder how many devices are too many in one network

Starting to think my smart home might be a little overloaded in terms of network and cables. Every week I add something small, like a plug or a sensor, and now the whole setup feels a bit crowded. Some routines run perfectly while others hesitate like the network is trying to catch its breath. I am in Pennsylvania and this is the time of year when I tend to stay indoors more, which means I notice every little hiccup. I am not sure if I reached the limit or if there is something I should reorganize before things get worse. Has anyone here hit that point where it just feels like the network has too much going on?

I hit that wall earlier this year. Everything “worked,” but half the automations felt tired. Moving a few chatty devices off Wi-Fi and onto their own hub made a big difference. Sometimes it’s not the number of devices but how noisy they are.

yeah, I realized this because my internet connection was slow, and my electricity and internet bills are really high haha. I end up turning off some of the less used smart home devices
.

It is easy to hit a tipping point once the devices start piling up, especially in winter when the network gets more daily use. Some routines lag because a few devices are competing for the same weak spots in coverage. You might want to take a quick look at which hubs or access points are carrying the most traffic since that usually shows where things are choking. Are the slowdowns happening in the same rooms or all over the house?
