I want to set up my TV backlights and wall sconces to auto dim when I hit play and brighten up when I pause or finish a movie. I’m currently using Plex but switching to a Zidoo UHD8000 soon.
I’ve got Govee lights now, but I’m willing to swap gear if needed.

How do I actually link the movie player to the lights? What’s the easiest way to get that real cinema vibe without a complicated custom install?

I believe Home Assistant plus Plex integration is the cleanest way to automate lights reliably without custom wiring

Although they’re no longer being made, my Logitec Harmony can be programmed with macros. I have mine set up so the room lights turn on when I turn the system off.

ebay probably has them from time to time. I believe sofabaton might be abble to do somethingg similar.

Harmony really spoiled people, those macros still feel like the cleanest “press once, whole room reacts” setup we ever had.
