RFID ring for wedding band

My brother's always a bit odd, he has a new mission now. He wants to replace his wedding band with an RFID enabled ring for some side projects he's got going. The funny thing is that he's planning to surprise his wife (I told im it's a bad idea lol).

He asked me if I could help him, he's looking for one that can be read and written to, works with a bunch of different access systems (especially HID stuff), and actually looks decent.

He knows enough to be dangerous, but he's hoping someone here has some real world advice on what to get. Any recommendations?

Wow, I think he's playing with fire but you gotta respect the mission! For the tech, he'll need something with both HF (13.56MHz) and LF (125kHz) chips to handle different access systems, especially the old HID stuff. Look into a ring with a dual-chip setup like the Dangerous Things Magic Ring v2. They're designed for this exact kind of thing, can be read and written, and actually have a pretty slick ceramic look, so it's not a total eyesore. He'll probably need a Proxmark3 or a Flipper Zero to program it, but it sounds like he already knows that. Just tell him to maybe have a backup plan for the wife!

Cool idea but maybe don’t surprise the missus. HID systems use 125 kHz formats that many NFC rings don’t support, so look for a writable 125 kHz RFID ring (or a dual band ring if you need both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz), and be prepared to program/clone it with a proper reader

I'm all for innovation and smart automation but I think your brother is taking a huge risk trying to surprise his wife, instead of discussing this idea with her. Maybe he should consider just making a separate RFID ring and wear it on a different finger?
