Anyone using Matter devices without constant issues?

Anyone here actually using Matter devices in their home setup? I’ve got a pretty mixed environment with Alexa speakers, a Nest thermostat, and a few smart plugs that all live in their own little ecosystems. I keep hearing Matter is supposed to fix that, but I’m not sure how well it’s working in practice. If you’re already using Matter, is it worth the switch? Does setup really go faster or does it just give you a new way for things to break? I’ve been holding off buying new gear until I’m sure it’s stable enough, but if people are getting smoother connections between brands, I might finally take the plunge.

Matter’s cool in theory, but don’t expect plug-and-play perfection. My Nintendo Switch Wi-Fi holds a connection longer than some of these devices. When it behaves, it’s really nice having everything in one ecosystem, but yeah… it still gives you new ways to break stuff. I’d add one or two devices and see if your setup freaks out.

If your current setup is running fine, I’d honestly wait. Matter’s getting better, but it’s still very “patch notes” energy. Good idea on paper, still kinda goofy in real life. I’m keeping my mixed system until the updates stop breaking random things.

honestly, it is stable enough, but it's not a magic bullet... yet
I can tell you that setup is faster with the QR code, and I love having one device respond to both Google and Alexa. the initial reliability is great
the main issue is that not all manufacturers have implemented Matter's full feature set yet. you should try to buy a cheap Matter plug now to test its connection stability in your specific mixed environment before buying major appliances

Matter has been improving, but it still depends a lot on which hubs you mix together. Some people get smooth pairing and others hit random timeouts, especially when combining older Alexa gear with newer Matter plugs. It does simplify things once it’s stable, though. Have you already tried pairing any of your existing devices to a Matter-enabled hub to see how your setup behaves?

Matter works… when it works. I’ve got a few plugs and sensors on it now and the setup was faster, but the hiccups aren’t gone. It handles mixed brands better than the old way, but it’s not “magically stable” yet.
